Dr. Rakhwe Kama is a distinguished researcher specializing in Agricultural Water Soil Engineering and Environmental Management for Agriculture. Currently serving as a postdoctoral researcher at the College of Natural Resources and Environment, South China Agricultural University, Dr. Kama focuses on ecological restoration and environmental planning, contributing to innovative solutions for the safe use of arsenic (As) and cadmium (Cd) co-contaminated mining lands in Southern China.
With a Ph.D. in Agricultural Water Soil Engineering from the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Dr. Kama’s doctoral research explored the effects of livestock wastewater irrigation on heavy metal migration under maize/soybean intercropping systems. He also holds a Master's degree in Environmental Science and Engineering from Jiangsu University, where he examined the chemical ecology of invasive plants and their interaction with soil microorganisms and native plant diversity.
Dr. Kama’s expertise spans soil pollution and remediation, ecological restoration, and food and water security. His research addresses key challenges in soil-plant systems, with an emphasis on heavy metal migration, trace elements like arsenic and cadmium, and nutrient cycling such as nitrogen and carbon.
Beyond research, Dr. Kama is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of scientists as a graduate teaching assistant and research assistant. He is actively involved in conducting experiments, publishing in scientific journals, and enhancing learning experiences for undergraduate and graduate students.
Dr. Kama possesses strong organizational, supervisory, and administrative skills and is adept at public speaking, team leadership, and cross-cultural collaboration. Proficient in Microsoft Office, SPSS, and Origin, he brings a multidisciplinary approach to his work. He is fluent in English, French, and conversational Chinese, reflecting his commitment to diversity and inclusion in his professional endeavors.
A passionate advocate for sustainable practices, Dr. Kama’s work embodies a commitment to addressing global challenges in agriculture and environmental sciences, making him a vital contributor to advancing solutions for environmental health and sustainable development.
Dr. Rakhwe Kama’s research focuses on addressing critical challenges in agricultural and environmental sciences, particularly within the water-soil-plant systems. His interdisciplinary expertise encompasses:
Dr. Kama’s research contributes to advancing knowledge in environmental planning, soil science, and agricultural sustainability, with applications in enhancing food security, water management, and ecosystem restoration in both regional and global contexts.
